Residential
San Sebastian, Spain
This 100m2 penthouse located in the heart of the romantic area of San Sebastián crowns a building by Francisco Urcola, a reference in San Sebastián architecture from the beginning of the century.
Given this marked context, the premise was clear: to reorganize the available space while respecting and reinforcing the classical language of the building, its axes, rhythms, and symmetries.
The main gesture was to highlight the social area, the core and central space of the house, which is separated from the rest of the rooms through a large wooden volume that integrates the rest of the accesses and the kitchen.
A reduced and select palette of natural materials gives continuity and coherence to the entire proposal, a solemn balance that prioritizes light as the primary material, revealing the plasticity of ceilings and columns, bringing the classical language of the building to a contemporary terrain.
